LVPEI doctors caution on ignoring conjunctivitis

Vijayawada: Cautioning against ignoring conjunctivitis, the incidence of which is on the rise, the doctors of LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) have said neglecting bacterial infection is not advisable.
Applying a cool compress and using artificial tears can help alleviate symptoms. Bacterial conjunctivitis usually requires antibiotic eye drops or ointments. Dr. Himabindu Alluri, an ophthalmologist at LVPEI from Visakhapatnam campus and Dr. Anahita Kate, an ophthalmologist at LVPEI, Vijayawada said, “It is important to complete the entire course of medication even if symptoms improve.“
To prevent the spread of conjunctivitis, it is essential to maintain good hygiene practices. Regular washing of hands with soap and water can help prevent the spread of infection.
